Well, it was ice cream weather. Ninety degrees, humid, and an air action alert- it must be the Ice Cream Run. On Tuesday, July 19, fifty-five runners took off in the oppressive conditions. Many had a difficult race, and the times suffered a little. Allie Vincent won for the second time this summer and did it a few seconds faster than she did in the Pizza Run. Chris Wehrle was the men’s winner. They both won gift certificates. Afterwards, runners, friends, and workers enjoyed ice cream cones and popsicles. It was a nice race.
Thanks to David Maxwell for being race director. He donated the door prizes, and he also provided ice, water, etc. for the runners. Donna Younger and Robin Miller dipped the cones. Jim Pipes set up and supervised the finish line (the new banner looks great). Sam Lashley, Leonard Heuser, Dave Rausch, and Jamie Woods worked the finish line. Earl Navarro and Kenny Kingsbury called splits. Wakeley managed to take pictures while still leaning on his cane. John Schaap ran the water stop. Fortunately, he had his grand kids there to help.
Is that $3 for anyone, including non-IHR members? That’s ridiculously cheap!
Yes, $3. It’s only $2 for members! We are pretty ridiculous sometimes, but it’s pretty cheap icecream, and we’re all about the friendship. So come on down and eat all the ice cream you can stand!
